Wedding planning tips

So you’ve met the man or woman of your dreams, they proposed and you said yes. Congratulations! Now it’s time to plan the big day and all of the fun and excitement that entails. From the venue to the guest list, the entertainment to the outfits, there is a lot to think about and a lot to arrange, but there is no reason it shouldn’t all be good fun as well as a little bit of hard work.

When it comes to arranging the details for your big day, don’t rush into anything. It can be all too easy to rush into making decisions on venues or dresses, only to find that you have changed your mind a few months down the line. If you love the first dress you try on – great! But make sure you try on a few more just in case. You can always come back to the first one you found but you are probably never going to have a day of wedding dress shopping again so you might as well make the most of it and be certain that you’ve made the right decision.

The same goes for picking your wedding venue. You might walk in and think somewhere is perfect, but scouting out a few more options will give you a clearer idea of what you do and don’t want and will give you more of a sense of what is out there and what you can get for your money. A good tip for when you are scouting out possible venues is to score each one out of 5 on various criteria, such as size, food, cost, staff and so on. This way you can make your decision more objectively and won’t forget anything after you’ve seen four or five!

For the finer details such as cakes, flowers, favours and accessories, a great way to collect ideas and inspiration is to use a virtual pin board such as Pinterest to create mood boards. You will soon see your ideal wedding taking shape before your eyes.
